About Shirdi Sai Baba

Sai Baba is a great saint. There are a lot of books and stories by which devotees can learn about Sai Baba ‘s life, his teachings, miracles and how he lived in Shirdi. The main holy book, which gives knowledge about his life, leelals, miracles and teachings, is Shri Sai SatCharitra.  When he was born, where he came from, who his parents were and what his religion was, nobody knows. Some people say that he is an incarnation of God, (but he is himself is God)- Sai Baba always said “I am a messenger of God”. In his whole life he loved all the people and never distinguished anyone on the basis of caste, creed or religion. Today, many people, regardless of whether they are Hindu, Muslim or Sikh, all pray to him. He lived his whole life in Shirdi. Shirdi is small village near Mumbai, (Maharshtra State) in India. Sai Baba stayed there for about 60 years and thus making this small village a Pilgrimage. Who ever comes to him get the solution and blessings from him. Baba preached his principle of love and faith in humanity to all his disciples. He always felt anguished over the fact that all those who came to him were more for their own personal problems (most people sought help for their own personal matters   seeking instead of seeking to attain) and not for attaining the ultimate goal of reaching God which he felt could be attained only by true servicing of humanity. (serving humanity sincerely)

In his life span he did many miracles to give happiness to all his devotees. He appeared to all his devotees in appearance they want in Rama, Datta, Shiva and many other Gods. He effected cures, conferred health, happiness, and prosperity, and made childless couples conceive. His real purpose though was to awaken in them a longing for the spiritual life.  All the miracles are for his devotees; he never did anything for himself or for his sake.  His teachings are real truth of the life and death. The knowledge he spread to all is only love and help others to achieve God. He always guides his devotees on each and every step. Once you call on him, he will come to his devotee. He always says if you feed any hungry man or animal it means you are offering food to him. His teachings are very simple like him. He is great and unique  person in all the forms in eating, clothing, living. He always wore kafni, sleeping on mat, head on a brick, begging for food and eating food with animals in same bowl. In his life time he lived in a mosque, “Dwarkamai!”.

On 15th Oct. 1918, he passed away, leaving his millions of believers and followers crying. His body was laid in the Samadhi Mandir called “Booty Wada”, which he had asked his disciple to build before his death.

After he took Maha Samdhi he never left his devotees. He is always with his devotees. His most concise message for one and all alike was “Why fear when I am here”.his main saying is Shardha and Saburi. Just believe in him, have faith. He always say “Allah Malik” and Sab Ka Malik Ek”.
